Nice to meet you!

Hi, my name is Deborah. Nice to meet you! I am a freelance nature illustrator and graphic designer based in Monterey, CA. Born in California and raised in New Jersey, I returned to the West Coast in 2016 to further my education and explore new landscapes. My work is inspired by the sense of wonder I experience while engaging with natural objects. By exploring color and emphasizing details, I hope to ignite the viewer’s sense of awe and childlike curiosity, allowing each person to share in my experience in the process. Ultimately, I hope to empower people to recognize the parts of us that exist to help us thrive in the natural world, and reconnect with this living, breathing entity that connects us all.

My primary areas of interest are marine ecology, invertebrates, and botanical illustration. In my free time, I can most likely be found tidepooling or experimenting with fabric arts. If I can’t be found, I’m probably hiking somewhere nearby. I also study astronomy and geology, striving to expand my knowledge of constellations and collect (too many) rocks and minerals.
