About the project:

When I first began painting P. orphanae, I had no plans to expand that project past a single spot illustration. Upon sharing the finished watercolor, however, I was met with such enthusiasm from both my peers and the researchers who discovered the species that I was inspired to illustrate the rest of the genus. I was excited to dive into the journal article and learn all I could about these captivating animals. The final artwork features five of the six species in this genus, four of which (P. elvisi, P. goffrediae, P. mineoi, P. orphanae) were recently discovered upon publication of the article.
